Bodycasting Bodycasting is a simple process and is easy to do at home – there are loads of links and kits available if you want to try yourself. If however, like many of us and particularly Mums-to-be, you would love a unique reminder of this special time but don't have the time, energy or inclination then commission me. The final cast is decorated to your individual style, preferences or ideas and finished to a high standard. It is a unique and beautiful gift that celebrates the female form. This piece of artwork becomes a lovely family heirloom. Clients include a woman who changed her lifestyle, quit smoking and took up marathon running. She wanted a bust to display in her home that reflected her new self and was "over-joyed" with the result. Another client, Charlie (lovely Mum-to-be), I cast at six-months into her pregnancy. Her bust has taken pride of place in her baby-boy's nursery. Pregnancy bodycast commissions are normally booked for six-months onwards to get the best baby bump. The casting process is simple and I normally cast at your home. Once the cast is semi-dry (a surprisingly short amount of time – just enough for a cuppa!) it is removed and returned to the studio for decoration and finishing. The process is a little messy and I recommend a shower or bath afterwards! During this time it is strengthened using fibreglass, painted, decorated and finished with a velvet trim. Depending on the complexity of the artwork and decoration, this can be anything up to a month or so. |
